"Visiting Her Amazing Portland Shop Was A Weekly Ritual Of Mine."
-Grace Bonney, Design*Sponge
As an earth sign, my material instincts and desire for things I can see and touch soar. I have been honing my hunter/gatherer skills since I could open my eyes. As a kid growing up in the Pacific Northwest, I was free to run wild endlessly on the beaches and forests, where I built homes out of driftwood and made necklaces out of shells. My natural born obsession with objects-from the tiny folk art clay horse, to the gold-drenched silk ball gown, to the broken piece of cast-off marble slab in a dusty alleyway- is a way of life for me. I'm a reclamation maven, a clever raven of a collector and an rabid design enthusiast. I never tire of the mystical feeling I get when discovering a genius emerging designer or hit the jackpot of a seventy-five cent sale on vintage natural fiber textiles.
Pictured here are some of the vintage and contemporary handmade objects and art I gather for my online retail shop, Sword+Fern.
